Tycoon

Ok, I know this game has been out for years, but I got my first taste of Rollercoaster Tycoon this weekend. I borrowed it from the library and Joe’s daughter spent a few hours playing it yesterday.

Tonight I took a stab at it and suddenly three hours whizzed by like mere seconds. Thank god we don’t work tomorrow, because I wasted the hours between 6-9 building my amusement park. At first I was doing really good, but no matter how many handymen, maintenance guys and security guards I hired, the grounds were still un-mowed, dirty, and riddled with vandalism. Plus my rides kept breaking down.

But the most frustrating thing was that despite the minimal pathways and access to several centrally-located information kiosks, the stupid visitors kept getting lost and were unable to find the exit, even when they were standing right in front of it. Grrr. By the time I finally pulled myself away from the computer to watch Dead Like Me, I was starting to lose money.

I can totally see how people get addicted to games like The Sims. It seems there are several Tycoon-like games out there too, where you can build a zoo, Sea World, a circus, and a mall. At least now I’ll have something to pass the time once we move and have less money to go out for entertainment. :)
