QVC sucks

If you’re considering a purchase from QVC, I’d recommend avoiding them like the plague. I had ordered from them once before to get a hair dryer, so I trusted that ordering from them again would be a snap. Wrong!

On March 9th I ordered a Tech Craft audio stand for our living room since they had the lowest price with shipping ($225 total) than any other trusted site I could locate online. On March 10th I was informed that the item shipped and my credit card was charged. My item was being shipped via UPS Ground with an estimated delivery date of March 22nd.

Sometime around March 17th, I contacted QVC via their online help to inquire why UPS only had “Billing information received” as the shipping status. The representative informed me it was because QVC would typically deliver the item to the UPS facility that was local to the customer’s address and then it would ship from there. Therefore, the tracking detail would not be updated until closer to the EDD. It sounded strange, but Joe said when he briefly worked for UPS, he did remember QVC trucks showing up there, so I took their word for it.

Since we had to go out of town unexpectedly, and UPS didn’t have any info yet on my package, we asked our neighbor to keep an eye out for it and they agreed. When we got home, we checked with our neighbor and they hadn’t seen any packages. Furthermore, neither QVC nor UPS had any details on the package which should have been delivered three days ago.

So I got online again with their customer service and spoke to another representative who was completely unhelpful. She basically tells me “your order shipped on 3/10 and is due to be delivered 3/22”. Uh duh, thanks Captain Obvious. I swear, there must be a certain level of stupid to get these jobs. So I told her that if she couldn’t give me any more information than I could already see on their website, then I wanted to speak with someone who could.

She proceeds to ask me for my shipping address, which I refuse to give her since it’s already on the order and I know it’s correct. Then she tells me all their products arrive within 7-10 business days but because the item shipped directly from the manufacturer, she didn’t have any tracking info. I knew that was wrong since I had been given one. So I sarcastically asked her from what country did it ship since it wouldn’t take over two weeks from any location in the United States. All she could say was apparently UPS lost the package. Unbelievable!

I told her I’d be contacting UPS to see what they thought of her accusation that they lost the package and then I’d be calling QVC directly to speak to a manager. She was all friendly saying “please contact us. Is there anything else I can help you with?” Gee, you call that help? I just closed the chat window before I said something inappropriate.

After Joe got wind of what happened, he told me to just cancel the order. So I called QVC and just for the hell of it, asked them where my item was. That rep had nothing to tell me other than if I hadn’t gotten it yet, they would issue me a refund. She noted that the item wasn’t in stock anymore (and curiously enough, it was no longer in stock the day mine supposedly shipped) and I told her I don’t believe it was in stock when I placed my order and that it was never shipped. When I asked for a confirmation # for my refund, she told me the refund was the confirmation. WTF?!? I told her they need to learn how to do proper business and hung up.

So I got lucky and found it marked down on buy.com and even with their ridiculous $75 shipping charge, it’s still going to cost $25 less than QVC charged me. Ha-ha!
