Hot dogs

Did you know that you’re supposed to cook hot dogs similar to the way you boil eggs? I didn’t, but I actually read the package of hot dogs today and it said to bring the water to a boil, then add the dogs, cover them, remove them from the heat, and let them stand for 7-9 minutes. And yes, it does make a difference, but I think I should have let the water boil longer before adding them because they weren’t quite hot enough. Next time.

  1. How funny! I never heard that before (I knew about the egg one though). I just checked my package of Ball Park franks and they just say “boil 4-5 minutes”. Must be a brand thing. I always grill mine anyway, but I’m curious to try the hot water method next time.

  2. I didn’t know that either then I saw Rachel Ray cook them that way but she also browned them afterwards in a pan with a little butter just to make the outside crispy, wasn’t bad. :)
