The Flight Attendant

We started watching a new series on HBO Max called The Flight Attendant starring Kaley Cuoco.

Not only is it binge-worthy, but I was immediately in love when in the opening scene of the first episode they were playing a Sofi Tukker song (Good Time Girl). Cut to just a minute later and they were playing another song of theirs (Energia).

This is not the first time I’ve heard their music in shows/movies. In fact, I feel like I hear them every other week in something new. I’m so happy so many other people like their music as much as I do.

Update 4/7/22 – They featured a Cure song in the 8th episode – alt.end – which is my favorite song from their self-titled album. Incidentally, the second season of the show premieres April 21st: Robert Smith’s birthday.

First Doggie Playdate of the Year

Saturday (03/19) we went to K’s house for the first time this year. Originally we thought it would be nice enough to sit outside but it decided to rain for three days leading up to our visit so her backyard was muddy, plus the temperature was lower than predicted.

We arrived around 10:30, even after stopping at Starbucks for Joe to get a latte (which was free because I won 150 stars in their sweepstakes earlier that morning) because traffic was great. She was dog-sitting for this very cute & friendly dog named Izzy who was fun to interact with.

Wookie seemed excited to see the new dog and Teddy, who is K’s dog, and she knows well, but Izzy kept getting in her face wanting to play so she decided she didn’t like her after all. She wouldn’t bark at her, like she did with previous dogs my friend has had over, but she did growl at her and try to get away from her most of the time.

We decided to order from a local place for lunch called Charcoal Flame Grill. I got a 1/4 chicken with rice and potatoes and Joe got a polish dog with fries. I would probably try something else from their extensive menu next time because the bite I tried of Joe’s food was very good. Mine was just ok.

All the dogs were rather sleepy after trying to unsuccessfully get us to share our food with them.

It sucks that Wookie doesn’t really enjoy being around other dogs. I think she doesn’t understand when dogs want to play with her. Instead she assumes they’re trying to harm her. Needless to say, she was overjoyed when we were ready to leave at 3:30.

It was nice getting out of the house for something other than grocery shopping.

Popcorn Enhancement

Someone recently on the interwebs suggested mixing Sour Patch Kids and popcorn. We just so happened to have an unopened bag of SPK in the pantry, and we always have microwave popcorn on hand, so we gave it a try and wow, we were not expecting it to be as delicious as it was! Never would have expected fruit flavors to go with popcorn, but here we are.

We didn’t put the candy into the popcorn for fear it would make a sticky mess, so we just popped one in our mouth before taking some popcorn. 10/10 would do again.

Happy March

Thank goodness it’s March! I cannot wait until the time changes and sunset is after 7 pm again. I lose all my energy once the sun goes down.

I’m also looking forward to warmer weather and being able to walk outside again. I’m sure Wookie can’t wait either. Just thinking of having the windows open at some point makes my heart sing. It cannot get here fast enough. F winter!

OhSnap Grip

In May 2020 I backed the OhSnap Phone Grip on Kickstarter and received it in October of the same year. I loved it! It’s comfortable to wrap around my finger, it can be used as a stand, and it’s magnetized so the phone can stick to metal items.

Unfortunately, less than a year later, in April 2021, cracks started forming in the corners of the plastic piece in the middle. I went to their site and saw they have a lifetime guarantee, so I filled out the form to request a replacement.

Imagine my surprise when I received an email from them stating they couldn’t afford to replace it for free and offered me a 20% off coupon instead. That really pissed me off, and I wrote back to them that if they aren’t going to honor a lifetime guarantee then they should at least take that verbiage off their site. They wrote back with another sob story and completely missed my point. I had to explain to them once more I’m more angry that they won’t remove the guarantee from their site than I am about them unwilling to replace their inferior product.

Anyway, I happened to look at their site recently and there’s still a guarantee on there, but only for their new and improved version which they now are asking $30 for (I paid $15 for mine).

About a month ago the corner cracked off mine and makes it a bit harder to use. The problem is I’ve yet to find a better alternative, but I really don’t like the idea of giving my money to a company that doesn’t appreciate their customers. If not for people like me they wouldn’t have had the funds to create their product in the first place, and I’m salty about how I was treated in response.
