Hear that?

… That would be the sound of me snoring.

My apartment is currently in a state of disarray. Since they could not fix the creaking floor/ceiling (depending on your view) from above, I asked them to cut holes in my ceiling. What I wouldn’t do for some peace and quiet.

They started on Wednesday, and they should be finished tomorrow. In the meantime, my couch is where my table should be, and the table is folded up (thank god for the card table that is temporarily serving as a dining room table until we move into a house).

The good news is, the creaking has almost ceased. Now if only I could do something with the stomping. Can’t people walk lightly? Yeesh. I hope they fall down the stairs and are bedridden for months.

Oops, did I just say that out loud? ;)

As soon as Joe gets home, we’re going to watch Final Destination 2. I don’t have high hopes for this movie, but it’s something to watch. We rented it yesterday but I wasn’t feeling well and bought some sinus meds that knocked me out. I fell asleep on the couch (which I made Joe drag back into the living room) at 7:30 pm. I moved to the bedroom around 9 pm and slept until morning. It was so nice.

Poor Joe was lost without me last night. He stayed up way too late because he didn’t have me to tell him to go to bed; thus proving that all men need besides sex is someone to be their surrogate mommy.

Reality Bites

I think the time has come – I am SO over reality television. Give me an episode of Friends any day. I’m tired of The Real World and The Osbournes. Snore-fest. Speaking of … goodnight!

Sunday Night Musings

On my mind, in no particular order …

Is it bad that I really want to buy a low-cost 2 or 3 megapixel digital camera to carry around at all times? I’ve lost count how many times I saw something photo-worthy but didn’t have my camera on me. There’s no way I’m keeping a $1200 camera in my purse. I want something under $200 that takes compact flash cards, so I’ve been eyeing the Canon Powershot A300. I really don’t need another camera, though.

In movie news, based on the trailer we saw today, Scary Movie 3 looks pretty damn funny. I don’t recommend the recent Tomb Raider movie, though. The first one wasn’t fabulous, but it was decent. Plus it had a kickass soundtrack. With this one, I found myself hoping it was almost over because neither the music, nor the “action” scenes were enough to keep me interested. In fact, I enjoyed watching Clueless more on dvd when I got home, and that didn’t cost me $12 in tickets.

Joe came up with a great business idea – go to Target, buy a bunch of movie candy, and sell it outside the theater door for $2 a box. It’s still cheaper than what the theatre charges, and you’re making a nice profit since Target charges $1. They also are selling a pack of four boxes of candy for $2.79 which is the price of 1 box at the theater.

I’m reading this book called I Don’t Know How She Does It by Allison Pearson and it’s really good. Funny too. Reminds me a lot of Bridget Jones’ Diary as the main character is British and writes in a similar format as Bridget Jones did, even though it is not a diary. I grabbed it off the library shelf without even skimming the back because I was tired of browsing but wanted something. What a lucky find. In fact, I think I shall go curl up on the couch with it until bedtime.

Hope your weekend was as nice as mine.

Vacation destination

Joe and I have a few days off at the end of next month, and we’ve been trying to figure out where we wanted to go. We don’t have the funds for a full-fledged vacation like last November when we went to Arizona and California (one of the best times of my life), so we had to restrict it to somewhere within reasonable driving distance.

Originally I was thinking Wisconsin Dells. I haven’t been there since I was two years old, so for all intents and purposes, I’ve never been there. A few years ago I had plans on going there – took the days off from work and even booked the hotel – but I got sick and had to cancel. Funny, I started feeling sick after thinking about going (sore throat and sneezing), so maybe that’s a sign that it’s not all that interesting. Hmmmm ….

So anyway, one of Joe’s friends left for a short family vacation today and they’re headed to Kings Island, which is in Ohio. We’ve never been to Ohio before, and I always love going new places, especially theme parks, so this just may be what we were looking for. According to MapQuest, it’s only a five hour drive. That’s like driving to St. Louis, which is a piece of cake.

Anyone have any opinions or comments about Kings Island or Ohio in general? If so, email me. Yea, I know it used to be easier to leave a comment, but I’d much rather have a conversation with you anyway.
