Walk-through

We did a walk-through of the new place tonight since we close on it tomorrow morning. It feels like such a tease to visit the place again without being able to move in, but what are you going to do? The owners are renting it from us until Oct 15th and apparently they are actually moving that day, so we’re not sure how much time we’ll have that Friday to get inside and start cleaning. I had taken the day off work but now I might just take a half day. No sense in taking what little time I have left if I have to sit around the apartment waiting for them to leave anyway.

Since we’re closing tomorrow, I have the day off. I was excited at the thought of being able to stay up late tonight but I’m so bored. No one was on the local bbs to chat with. Sure, next week when I have to work on Friday they will be there, mark my words.

I really want to start packing but can’t yet. Gah.

My eyes, my eyes!

I’ve seen London …

And maybe someday I’ll see France.

But today I saw the Temp’s underpants!

As did the rest of the office.

I don’t know how it’s possible to wear your jeans a foot lower than your underwear and not realize that it’s all hanging out, but this girl walked around the office all day just like that. We pondered telling her, but why ruin all the fun?

Boooo Berry

Booberry - Old Booberry - New I was at Target the other day and picked up a box of Boo Berry cereal. I was never big on cereal as a kid, but I always chose Boo Berry over his lamer cousins, Count Chocula and Frankenberry. Of course, they redesigned Mr. Boo and the box looks nothing like it used to. But at least he looks happy now, as opposed to lit. I think maybe Boo Berry was smoking something back in the day. “Psst! Wanna get high?”

Luckily only the character and marshmallow shapes changed, but not the taste. It’s still as good as I remember. Hey, is it just me, or does the new Boo Berry remind you of the Staypuff Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters?

Shiny Remote

20040928-remote_t.jpg This new cable box remote Joe picked up from his office is really nice. It’s shaped nicer, and lighter too. Plus it has a neat feature where you can have it turn on/off the tv and box at the same time. Despite someone on a forum complaining how sometimes it doesn’t turn off both devices, I haven’t had a problem with it. As long as you hold down the button a little longer, it gets both devices. The complainer is just that, a complainer, especially when he gets all melodramatic about his tv being on all day long and it possibly getting ruined. Ok, drama queen. Let’s blame the remote for the fact that you can’t tell when your tv is still on. Don’t most tvs have a light on front to show the power is on? All the ones I own do.

The only thing I don’t like about the remote so far is that after programming my vcr into the aux button, the all on/off button turns the vcr on as well. As I don’t use the vcr very often, it’s annoying. I don’t want to take the programming off, however, because it’s nice to use the remote for all the devices. I checked the user guide, and while I think the special on/off button should only control the tv and cable box, it’s not set up that way. Someone clearly wasn’t thinking when they designed the feature.

New table

I’m so excited! I finally convinced Joe to go with me to Big Lots and in their furniture section we found the most awesome table for only $100. While technically it’s a buffet table, we’re probably going to use it as an entry table, or a microwave stand in the kitchen. This thing is so versatile, who knows where it will end up. I was seriously tempted to purchase two. No photo yet … it needs to be put together but we won’t be doing that for a few weeks. So until we move, it’s just another item taking up space valuable real estate in our apartment. But it was too good of a deal to chance missing out on.
