Fever Pitch

Star Wars Cup On Saturday we went to the movies for the first time in awhile. To give you an idea of how many months it has been, the last movie we saw in a theatre was The Incredibles.

About a month or two ago the local theatre mailed us some discount coupons to advertise that they had finished remodeling. There were two for a complimentary popcorn, one for a large Pepsi for the price of a junior, and a fourth coupon for discount admission ($5.50 each instead of the $6.75 (ridiculous) they now charge at matinees (and this isn’t even the “expensive” Sony theatre!!)). I put the tickets aside on the off chance we got in the mood to see a movie. Good thing I did, because I doubt we would have gone otherwise.

The little things

Mickey Antenna Ball Last week at work a few of us were discussing those mickey mouse antenna balls you sometimes see on people’s cars and one of the girls from another department mentioned how she’d love to get a Minnie Mouse one. While we were out driving yesterday, I mentioned to Joe that we should get her one when we go to Disney World.

This morning I was at my desk working on something when that girl stopped by my coworker’s desk. I wasn’t really paying attention to what the two of them were discussing until I heard the girl say, “I got that for Nicole”. I turned around and my coworker had an antenna ball in her hand. Turns out that over the weekend the other girl ended up at the Disney store and spotted the antenna balls and thought of me. She picked up two and even let me choose which color I wanted (she ended up with a pink one).

This may sound dorky, but I was really touched. Sometimes it can surprise me how thoughtful people can be because they tend to be so self-absorbed. It was a nice start to the week since Mondays are normally so blah.

Dead like a Jetta

God, do I love Fridays! On Monday morning when my alarm goes off, it’s the single worst moment of the entire week. In stark contrast, the moment I leave work on a Friday afternoon is the single best moment of the week. Even though at least two of my co-workers are asleep at this very moment (of which I am aware only because they told me they still follow the same sleep schedule regardless of what day it is), I am enjoying the freedom of knowing I have nowhere to go or any responsibilities to attend to for the next two days. After five days of “Oh shit, I better go to bed or I’m going to regret it in the morning” it’s nice to have a break from that stress. I’m just relaxing at the computer, reading some blogs which I haven’t had the time to do lately, and listening to Nine Inch Nail’s new album via someone’s radio blog (it’s pretty damn good too).

Time flies when you’re working

I can’t believe it’s been over a month since our unplanned trip to Arizona. I’ve been spending far too much time at work since we returned, making up time. I can’t complain, though; they could have forced me to use up all my remaining vacation time and take time unpaid.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to fill out this older Sunday Brunch since it’s related to travel:

The 50 States

“In a country as big as the United States, you can find fifty examples of anything.” -Jeffery F. Chamberlain

1) What state were you born in? Illinois.

2) What state do you currently live in? Illinois. Exciting, I know.

3) How many states have you been in? (and yes, driving through counts!) 12 if I counted correctly.

4) If you had your choice regardless of cost, which of the 50 states would you choose to live in? I’m not sure if I could pick having not visited most of the states, but the first one that comes to mind is Colorado.

5) Which of the 50 states would you rather die than live in? Oklahoma. Although that sounds like I’d rather die in Oklahoma but I wouldn’t even want to die there.
