FIL #13

I may be sick today, but you’re still getting your link-love!

I’ve always wondered the lengths secret shoppers have to go through, and now I realize I could not handle it. The other day Joe and I were watching some train-wreck of a show where the husband and wife could not treat each other right if their lives depended on it, and we came up with the idea that we should see a marriage counselor just to totally mess with them. We started going over scenarios we could make up and cracking ourselves up. Needless to say, I’d probably start laughing for real so we could never do that. I don’t know how that guy in the article could keep a straight face while singing about counting vanilla.

You’ve probably been living under a rock if you didn’t already know the Writer’s strike is over. But did you know TVGuide.com has a list of when all your favorite shows are returning with new episodes? Oh yea, baby! Sadly, 24 won’t be back until 2009. SNL is already back; Tina Fey hosted last week’s episode and Ellen Page (from Juno) will be on tomorrow night.

Psst! Is it just me, or is SNL kicking MadTV’s ass this season? Neither one has ever been brilliant, but I am severely disappointed in every new episode of MadTV I’ve seen. It’s almost like the SNL writers work on that show now too. Oh, and I miss Ike! :(

I know already mentioned this, but oh my god, Peggle on the iPod is AWESOME! I love love love that game. I said almost a year ago that I was going to buy the full version for my PC but I never did because I really don’t play PC games. When I’m on my computer, I’m all about blogs and whatnot. But playing on the iPod? Fan-fucking-tastic! So much fun! I killed our almost two-hour drive home from the city on Monday night playing that game. And they have a Mac version for all you PC-haters!

Friday Fill-Ins #61

1. I’m looking forward to nothing special next week.
2. I don’t handle stress very well.
3. Ice cream is something I could eat every day.
4. Warmth and sunlight makes me happy.
5. Petsmart, here I come!
6. I sometimes like tattoos. But only on men!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to relaxing, tomorrow my plans include having the new washing machine delivered and Sunday, I want to get some new stuff for Oreo at Petsmart!

Introducing… Oreo

Check out what my hubby brought home tonight. Isn’t she adorable?

Little Miss Oreo

Joe was at Petco earlier with his kids after their regular Thursday night dinner and spotted her. He sent me a picture message with his cell phone and as soon as I saw her, I had to have her!

She’s younger than Peanut was when we got her, so she’s pretty energetic, but he said he was able to hold her without her biting him which is a good sign.

We’ve decided to name her Oreo since she’s black on both ends and white in the middle. :)

Scrub a dub dub

We bought a washing machine from Sears yesterday. Exciting, I know! Ours has been making this horrible noise lately and it’s not the belt, so it must be the motor. We looked at machines a few weeks ago at Sears to get an idea of what we wanted to spend, and of course, my husband being the frugal man that he is was trying to sell me on a $350 model. No way was I getting something with less features than ours currently has.

Frankly, I want those spiffy front-loaders that sell for $800+ each but I knew that was a losing battle. Plus if I want to be logical, it doesn’t make sense to put something that expensive in a townhome that we know we won’t be staying in.

We haven’t decided if we’re going to stick around in this place until we move out of state in 5+ years, but I’m hoping for a house before then, if only to get away from our retarded neighbors. At night the entire courtyard is dark except for two units who keep their patio lights on all night long. Want to wager a guess who those two are? I don’t think I need to spell it out for you. We’ve been looking for light blocking drapes for the bedroom but the only ones we’ve liked were discontinued and the leftover stock in the store wasn’t the right size. We have the best luck with that; we’ve only been searching for over a year. Anyway, we were going to look at Sears but got so wrapped up in our washing machine purchase that we forgot.

And we compromised and got the $450 model which has a stainless steel tub and the capacity is a little larger than our current one with pretty much the same features. After taxes, gift card, 10% special, and “free” installation, I think it will cost $400, so we’re both happy. It arrives on Saturday. No more airplanes landing in the laundry room.

Yummy in my tummy

Move over Pot Of Gold, there’s some new chocolate in town

I don’t remember who in my family gave me these for Christmas, but they are best truffles I’ve ever had and there’s only one left! *Cry*

No instant potatoes for me, thanks

We tried these mashed potatoes for dinner last night and I was really impressed. They are real potatoes with real butter, the serving is big, and they’re only $1.99. I’ll definitely be buying more because making mashed potatoes from scratch is a big pain in the butt and the kids love them.
