Women love shoes

I bought two pairs of black leather shoes at this place called the Shoe Department in the mall last night. The girl rang up the sale and tried to charge me $20 more than she should have. For whatever reason, neither pair rang up with the sale price. So she followed us back to the shelves to check the prices. First she tried to say that the shoes I has chosen weren’t the ones on sale. But Joe pointed out that she was wrong. Then she was perplexed why they rang up incorrectly since they supposedly update the computer in a timely manner. And then she sighed as she said “I’ll give you the sale price” as if she was doing me some huge favor. I had no problem leaving without the shoes. I wasn’t married to them.

So anyway, why is it that shoes feel comfortable in the store and then murder your feet when you get home? Honestly, it’s my fault for choosing a size too small. I wanted a snug fit, but I swear my right foot is larger than the left. Of course, I didn’t discover this until I was on my way to work, so I sat at my desk all day sans shoes. Thank goodness I don’t have stinky feet! I wiped the shoes off when I got home and will be taking them back for an exchange this weekend. Their policy states no worn shoes, but how would you know they needed to be returned if you hadn’t worn them at least a little bit? I’m not worried, though. I once wore a pair of Doc Martens for a week during a snowstorm and brought those in for a refund, so I can manage a little walking around the carpeted office.

A month already

Today marks one month since we got the keys to our place. Things have definitely come along nicely. In case you haven’t looked lately, I have added before and after photos to my photo site.

Joe ripped up the carpeting in the loft today as Home Depot will be here on Saturday to install the new stuff. It’s very exciting! Once that is done, he will put the flooring in the dining room.

By the time January rolls around, we’ll be ready for a housewarming. I know you don’t have to wait until all the changes have been made, but I want to, plus with the holidays coming up, I don’t want to compete with all the other festivities.

Incredible

We saw The Incredibles this afternoon. We ended up seeing it at the Marcus which was $1.25 LESS PER TICKET than the Sony Loews. If I was Marcus, I’d be sure to advertise their lower prices seeing how the two theatres aren’t that far from one another. Why pay $14.50 for two tickets when you can pay $12 to see the same movie?

I’m glad we went to see it because I was worried it wouldn’t come to dvd for a long time, and it was so good. I’ve yet to be disappointed with a Pixar film. That being said, the little short before the movie was quite strange. It was kinda creepy, if you ask me. I much preferred the one before Finding Nemo with the Santa globe.

Just like kids

We are so bad. We bought a bunch of toys today … for ourselves. We got the GameCube Mario Kart version and a couple of extra games, a Scene It game, as well as Monopoly and Life. This is why we are so hard to buy for during the holidays … we get what we want all the time.

We also went to Ulta to get a foot spa they had on sale for $9.99. I have never been in this store before and was hit in the face with overwhelming scents. You can tell I’m not a girly girl as I turned down both the Ulta frequent buyer card and the two free issues to In Style magazine that the cashier offered me.

Anyway, we’re making burgers and will spend the rest of the evening playing games. :)

Library Blues

I don’t think I care much for our new library. It’s just not as large as our old one. There aren’t nearly as many materials, which disappoints me. I miss the growing dvd collection at the old library, as well as all the new books. Another thing that annoys me about the new library is that even though there is a separate youth section, there are still a lot of teenagers in the adult area on the computers. It seems more crowded and noisier as well. I miss my old town at times like these. And my commute is three times longer. :p

But I just remind myself that we couldn’t afford to own a home in our old town, so we had to move. And this town has a lot of shopping, so it’s not all bad. Plus I really do love our new place. I’m even getting used to the crooked bathroom.
