To Do List Status

Well, I didn’t get to everything on my original list but I did accomplish more tasks not on it:

clean laundry room, kitchen, and dining room floor
check out new grocery store that just opened (it sucks)
order Dad’s Father’s Day gift
order myself a new ultra compact camera
clean Oreo’s cage
pick out tile for foyer/guest bathroom

So overall it was a pretty productive weekend.

And all the stuff we got rid of was nice. I want to donate more stuff just so our house can be less cluttered. The garage is definitely looking good and it will be even better once Joe sells his motorcycle and we get a little freezer for all our Market Day stuff we would like to buy. We got such a deal on our broccoli stuffed chicken breasts on Saturday – only $5.99/box when they’re usually $13 – but we could only get two boxes because our freezer is small.

Wish it wasn’t over but that damn weekend always flies by.

Escape

So here it is. Our new Ford Escape.

Ford Escape

So yea, we bought a SUV. Hypocritical, isn’t it, considering how I hate SUVs and Ford? Or I guess I used to hate them. Ah well, what can I say? I changed my mind. I’m a woman so I’m entitled to it.

Our sales person was a great guy. Seriously. He was not seedy in any way like the guy we dealt with at the first dealership we visited. He was extremely helpful and friendly but not in a phony way. It was definitely a good car-buying experience.

And the “car” is a dream. Has tons of cool features and lots of storage space in the center console. I love it. And my iPod sounds fantastic with the sound system. Can’t wait to go driving around this weekend.

We have new vehicle… almost

We bought a brand new _____ today. Our first joint vehicle purchase, in fact. We’ve been driving the same vehicles since we got together seven and a half years ago – a 1993 Mitsubishi Mighty Max (his) and a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta (mine). We’re keeping my precious Jetta (which is in dire need of new tires and an alignment) and either trading in or selling the pickup truck; we haven’t decided which yet. We have until tomorrow when we pick up our new vehicle from the dealership. They had to buy it from another location since they didn’t have the exact one we wanted on the lot. This thing has got it all and we got a really good deal on it too. We’re very excited!

More tomorrow after we take delivery.

For now, let’s have a moment of silence for the pickup truck where so many memories were made. All those late nights driving around town. *Sniffle* I will miss you, little guy.

What the…?

Last night Joe and I were lying in bed when we heard a very loud, unidentifiable noise come from the bathroom. When I questioned aloud what could have caused it, my dear husband dismissed it as something that fell. That didn’t fly with me; particularly because immediately following the noise I heard water dripping. That’s usually not a good sign so I got up to investigate.

When I flipped on the light, I noticed water coming from the base of the toilet and then I saw this:

Yes, that strange sound was that of a very thick ceramic toilet tank cracking. Damn!

Water was coming out of the crack and running down the base of the toilet onto the floor so Joe – who had followed me into the bathroom – immediately turned off the water to the toilet and flushed it to drain the tank. Then we soaked up the water with a towel.

I’m really mystified as to what in the world would cause that to happen. Neither one of us is particularly abusive to our toilet. I’m not an angry shitter, I swear!

Joe speculated that it could be attributed to the constant changes in temperature in the bathroom but if that was the case, people’s toilet tanks would be cracking all the time. That’s never happened to me before, or anyone else I know, so it’s really odd. Oh well, what can you do?

Added to our weekend plans – buy new toilet.
