Our party last night was a complete success!
Our first guests arrived around 5:40 pm, and our last guests (the same couple, actually) left at 2:40 am. Everyone stayed a long time, even the older couples who were here for four hours. I don’t think you stay at a party that long unless you’re having fun. After the two older couples left, we played Pictionary, or more like drunken Pictionary since a few people were lit (my husband being one of them). My team won, of course. Joe’s did not. Haha.
Everyone was so nice, bringing us gifts, which I was not expecting. And since this likely will become an annual event with the same guests, I’ve made notes for next year:
We don’t need: Diet Coke, pies, cupcakes, or a cheese ball since they weren’t touched.
We do need: more celery, believe it or not!
I will give Joe credit – people ate a lot more food than I was expecting. And my homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies were a hit.
The couple who stayed the longest, K&E, are really nice and live close by; they go to Bingo the same weeks we do. They helped us clean up after everyone left which was awesome and left us very little to do this morning other than vacuum and put all the alcohol away. I think we may have found someone to play board games with too. I am very excited since I only get to play when I go to my parents.
I’m really happy everything went so well. And also pretty tired and betting I’m going to have a hell of a time going to sleep at a decent hour tonight. But it was totally worth it.
Congrats! Glad it was a success! Were the people at 5:40 early? There’s always someone and I’m never quite ready. It drives me a little nuts, but then I just put them to work! If you invite me next time, you will need Diet Coke. Also, I will arrive late, but be the last to leave. Thanks. ;-)
Jodi » LOL! I will remember that for next year, Jodi. ;)
Yes, they were early, but they had checked with us beforehand if they could come over before the party started to help out. We had everything already handled, but welcomed the company, so we told them to stop by anytime after 5.
