I’m not making any resolutions this year except “keep on keeping on”, which includes efforts I began last year to work out more often, eat better, and keep stress levels to a minimum.
I tend to forget how out of shape I am whenever I do work out. I did 15 minutes of yoga on my Wii today and it wasn’t bad, but the 2 minutes of jumping jacks I did beforehand to set up the My Fitness Coach profile were absolutely killing me. Clearly I need to work out more often than I have been if I want lasting results.
My plan is to work out on my elliptical on Mon, Wed, and Fri mornings before work and then do yoga and/or cardio on Tue and Thu for 30 minutes and 15 minutes each on Sat and Sun so I’m getting a work-out, no matter how small, every day of the week.
Wish me luck because I’ll need it – I truly am a wuss when it comes to cardio. As soon as I feel winded I want to stop.
Do you think you might enjoy something like Zumba? I don’t really love cardio either mostly because I don’t enjoy exercise that FEELS like exercise; I like stuff that is fun and happens to be good for me too (which is why martial arts were great back when I did them). When I do Zumba I just feel like I’m dancing which is WAY more fun than running on a treadmill or doing jumping jacks.
(The only cardio exercise that I like from the “feels like exercise” camp is doing burpees but that might be because I’m crazy.)
