I admit it, I’m a consumer. I’ve tried to cut back on my purchases, and have been doing pretty good, but I know I could cut back more if I wanted. Truth is, I don’t want to cut back any further. I like buying new clothes and jewelry. What I don’t like is being wasteful, so I’m more mindful of my purchases now. I don’t buy DVDs unless they are for TV series since I rarely watch the movies I have and love because they are repeatedly on cable. I don’t buy knickknacks because they just make the house look cluttered. I’ve resisted the urge to buy any more Christmas decorations with the exception of another box of icicles I got for 50% off since every year the ones from the previous year magically stop working, and a large LED snowflake I’ve been eying all season, also 50% off, which I have nowhere to put right now but will use someday when we have a house. I even got rid of some decorations this year and found my storage totes not as crammed full which was nice.
Speaking of buying stuff, Kohl’s always has deep discounts after New Years so I got three sterling silver necklaces on Saturday.
All three added up to around $35.
I also got two cardigan sweaters (one grey one for $7.50 and a white/green/black one for $14.20). It’s funny to me how Kohl’s operates. Does anyone ever buy anything there at full price, and if so, why? I think they list things higher than they are really worth just so they can constantly have these huge 60% off sales. In reality you probably pay what the item is actually worth. Case in point is their Hanes underwear. They want $19 regular price for the same package I can get at Walmart for $6. Insane!
On Monday after selling two DVDs to Half Price Books for a paltry $3 (better than nothing, I guess), I used the money toward the second season of Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist. I had to have it once I saw that Louis C.K. was in an episode. He has got to be one of the funniest comedians I’ve ever seen. It’s too bad the only way to get Seasons 3-6 is by buying the box-set at Amazon because as much as I love this cartoon, there’s no way I’m forking out $80 for it.
