I admit, I’m not one who necessarily explores the full gamut of what software can do. I’ve been using the free version of Winamp for years and automatically upgrade whenever a new version comes out, so I’m not sure how long this nifty feature has been available, but today while preparing a DVD for Brother #2 of The Cure’s full body of work, I stumbled upon something called auto-tag. It’s really cool because it’s such a pain trying to edit the file info for each song individually and manually.

With auto-tag you load as many MP3s into the Playlist as you want and right-click and choose “send to auto-tag” and the program compares each file to a database and returns results. If they are accurate you can choose for the information to be updated accordingly. I love it! Most of The Cure’s albums were in the database, but I did manage to confuse it on a few things; mostly bootlegs.

Now I’ll be spending the next week updating all my MP3s. Damn, I have way too many! I know my brother will appreciate it when he loads the songs onto his iPod, though.

Come visit my photo

Huh. I’m not sure whether I should be flattered or annoyed that no one asked for my permission to post a photo of mine on this website. I guess they feel since they gave my Flickr username credit it was ok?

I think I’m more perturbed by the alt text on the photo that says, “If you have taken a better photo of Itasca. Please email us a copy and if we like it, we might use it.” More like “If we find a better photo of Itasca we’ll just take it”. Also that’s one sentence there, not two, brainiacs.

What I’ve been up to

Since I last wrote, I…

Ordered pizza from a new place nearby in my never-ending quest to find the perfect pie. It was ok. Better than most, actually, but I’m still not satisfied. Their oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are divine, however. I must block out of my mind that I pass this place on my way home from work every day or I’ll be tempted to stop for a pre-dinner snack.

Watched 28 Weeks Later which must be one of the better films I’ve seen this year. I’m not so much for the horror genre but I’d like to see another installment. 28 Months Later, anyone?

Watched three hours of Prison Break that had accumulated on the DVR. I don’t know why I have such a love hate relationship with this show. I procrastinate turning it on, but thoroughly enjoy it once I’m watching it. Of course now it’s on hiatus until at least January.

Went to Target this morning and was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t a madhouse. Was able to get the iPod for the girl and some DVDs and a scooter for the boy. The board games that were on sale were completely gone. Good thing I ordered those from Amazon.com yesterday (and they shipped yesterday too which is insanely quick for free super-saver shipping).

Made this crazy delicious sandwich for lunch.

Started some laundry.

I was completely stir crazy from an entire day inside yesterday, but since we got out of the house this morning I hope to not go insane today. I rented License To Wed to watch later. Not because I expect it to be good in any way, but because I need some cute overload (John Krasinski).

Now I’m off to pay bills and reorganize my recipe book.

FALPVF #3

The 25 Most Baffling Toys From Around the World – Wow, those Japanese are obsessed with poop!

Sock Zombies – One of the weirdest, yet strangely cute, things I’ve seen in a long time. People’s creativity astounds me.

The Pioneer Woman Cooks – Lots of yummy recipes on this site that I must try soon. I love how detailed the instructions are and the accompanying photos at each step are phenomenal. It’s a food-lover’s dream.

Crazy Friday

5:05 am – Alarm goes off

5:15 am – Alarm goes off a second time

5:20 am – Slowly roll out of bed and get dressed

5:45 am – Leave home for Target

5:58 am – Arrive home from Target

OH MY GOD!!! Seriously, I did not expect over 1000 people to be lined up at Target this morning. The line started at one door and went across the full front of the store. Plus the parking lot was packed and many people were still in their cars. Even Joe, who used to work retail, and at Target specifically for many Black Fridays, couldn’t believe how many people were waiting outside.

I don’t get it. None of the sales seemed to be that fantastic. So not worth the aggravation. We sat in the parking lot for a moment just to take it all in and then went home. I wish I had brought my camera!

Oh, and shame on Target for not turning on the lights in the parking lot. People were walking and driving all over the place in complete darkness.

6:30 am – Finished ordering gifts from Amazon.com that I was most worried about getting for a good price. Not only were they the same price as the Target sale and the shipping was free, I didn’t have to pay tax either. So who is the savvy one now? Me, or the people standing out in the cold for over an hour? LOL!

I will never again attempt to shop on Black Friday. For those of you who do – you’re either very patient or completely insane. ;)

I’ll be spending the rest of the day between the couch and computer desk. And yes, I did put my pajamas back on.
