Resolution-less

Didn’t I write something before about making it a goal to post an entry a day? Geez, way to break a “resolution” right from the start, huh?

Well, in my defense, I’m not the only person who can’t keep their resolutions.

Ok, so let’s be more realistic. I will make an effort to post more frequently, but I’m not going to set down any hard and fast rules. Same goes for the fact that once I’m done using all the coupons I’ve been getting for my birthday for free food, I’m going to start eating better and exercising. I can’t say exercising more since I’ve really not been exercising at all.

I’m not looking forward to going back to work and actually having to be there all five days. Yuck! I have to work on my birthday too. I guess I could take it off, but what would be the point? It’s on a Thursday and I’d have to work Friday anyway, and probably more furiously to make up for missing Thursday. No thanks. Maybe next year when my birthday is on a Friday I will take the day off.

2009 – A Year in Review

So it’s about a week early, but I got it done so I want to post it so that’s one less thing left on my list to accomplish this week.

Nothing much

So I’m slowly getting through my list of things to get accomplished this week. Today was a trip to the DMV to renew my driver’s license. It was the most pleasant DMV experience ever, probably because it was at an express facility in Wheaton that staffs people who are actually nice. Imagine that! I’ve got a shiny new license with my best pic ever now.

We’ve watched four movies so far during our time off – Yes Man, Couples Retreat, District 9, and 500 Days Of Summer. All were enjoyable except that last one. Couples Retreat was seen at a newish second run theatre nearby that we hadn’t tried yet. Admission is $1.75 but on Tuesdays it’s only $1. Score! I wrote a review on Yelp.

I’ve read about half the People magazines and cleared a decent chunk of shows off the DVR. I’ve not done any cleaning except laundry even though the bathrooms need it. I want to give the rats a bath, except I don’t, because I am feeling really lazy right now, which means I should probably do it now before I get even lazier!

We didn’t put up the tree after all and don’t plan on it. We also decided not to exchange gifts. I feel the time off slipping through my fingers and it sucks! How can a day of mostly nothing go by so damn fast?!? :(

Not going anywhere

I was going back through my archives recently reading random posts here and there and realized that I’ve really neglected this blog the past two years or so. There was a time where I’d have more posts in a month than there were days and yet for this entire year I’ve only posted about 61 entries, give or take.

I’m thinking perhaps a New Years Resolution is in order – to write an entry a day. Maybe a photo a day too, although that sounds a bit ambitious for a lazy person such as myself, so maybe the entry thing should be my primary focus. I can’t help but marvel at how many things have happened which I had completely forgotten about until re-reading my own blog. This site is like a public diary, so I’m not going to let it die.

iPhone update & pet stuff

So it’s been just over a month since I got my iPhone and the novelty is beginning to wear off a bit, thank god. Because I really was spending way too much time using it! Now I am back to reading during my lunch break instead of screwing around on my phone and I feel smarter already. ;)

I think the one thing the iPhone has afforded me is more time to keep in touch with friends without being tied to my computer. Last thing I want after working at a computer all day is to be in front of mine at home. There are days where I don’t have to boot up at all. It’s a beautiful thing! Between Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook, I can keep on top of what everyone is up to but still have time to relax. Although I must admit the evenings just fly by. I don’t even know what I’m doing since it’s not cooking healthy meals or working out, two things I SHOULD be doing daily. When the Fall shows begin I’m going to be even a bigger lazy ass if that’s possible.

Is it bad that I don’t want my pets anymore? Don’t worry, I won’t be getting rid of them, because that’s irresponsible, but the work to keep their cages clean is completely out of proportion to the joy they bring. In other words, I am finding them to be more trouble than they are worth and when they go to the hamster wheel and sewer (lol, just kidding) in the sky, that’s it. I’m holding out for a cat.

The rats especially make me question what I was thinking. They are much better than a hamster in that you can actually interact with them, but there’s no good place for their cage and I feel bad that they don’t have a bigger one. In addition, after Joe shampooed our carpeting we don’t want them running around on it anymore so I have to lay out a blanket and surround it with the makeshift wall we created from some boxes. That makes it difficult to interact with them. And even worse is that for whatever reason they are making my house smell like mothballs which is seriously annoying me. I can’t figure out if it’s the litter I’m using (Yesterday’s News) or just them. I have a brand new bag of litter to go through and after that I’m going to see if the smell gets better.

Oh and on top of that, I feel like my breathing has been getting weird lately. It almost feels like I’m developing asthma. If it gets any worse I might just have to find them another home but we’ll see if it comes to that. As much as they annoy me, I think I’d be upset if I got rid of them because they are like relatives – you love them but don’t really like them. That is how I am feeling about the rodents in this house lately.
